Video: T43 Fan Noise

#1 Post by Burny421 » Tue Jul 03, 2007 6:44 pm

Hi everybody!

I've problems with my fan so I recorded a video to let you hear what I mean!

My fan "clatters" (don't know if it's the right word because I'm not a native speaker).
You can hear it in the video, especially in the last 10 seconds!

Does anybody have the same problem with the fan?
My opinion is that the bearing is broken.

Is this covered by warranty?? My T43 is about 20 months old, so there should be some warranty left.

Thanks for your help!

You can check warranty on Lenovo page with the serial number. See forum's FAQ.

Unfortunately it sounds like you are trimming the hedges. I think you have a bad bearing race in the fan or simply put a bad fan. I have two T43s and each has a very quiet fan under normal operation. I would definitely look into warranty work for this unit as that fan will more than likely fail prematurely.

Hi, just before buying another, try to dismount the keyboard and press the fan rotor with your fingers a bit, trying to 'center' and/or reseat it. I had one that did the same and this fixed it. It lloks like they can come a bit off-center in some situations.... you've got nothing to lose.

My T43 recently started making weird fan noises, it's not consistent but definitely worse than when I first bought it.

How hard was it to remove the keyboard to reveal the fan?

i have read a chinese forum stated that dismantling the FAN and applying oil to the FAN's inductor would totally solved the fan noise problem.
