#1 Post by e_motek » Mon Oct 18, 2004 7:38 am

Can anyone tell me what is the difference between 2373 is and the 2379 series?

I am looking into two T42's 2373KXU & 2379DYU, just want to know if one is better then the other.

Thanx in advance.

The 2379 series are called "express" models - models IBM hopes to sell a lot of. Otherwise no difference in 2373 and 2379. I'm sure you know that the -KXU and DXU have different processors, HDDs, batteries, and amount of memory.

Thank you, I just don't see the reason for doing this, why not just lower the price or have some sort of special.

The 2379 is an express (high volume) model with a 3 year warranty. The 2378 is the same express model with a 1 year warranty. And that must make the 2373 a low volume model with a 3 year warranty (?)

actually this is business. IBM just adds a plastic and changes the model number and puts more price on it.

I personally will just look at the processor, memmory and display options in a laptop.
