Alternative to EasyServ
Alternative to EasyServ
Sad to say, all of my laptops have been to the EasyServ depot (770, A21p, X20, T40p, and now my new T42p) for repairs.
I called EasyServ today to check the status of my T42p and they said they're waiting for a new system board with no ETA. Since the video was dead, it doesn't really matter. I can't use the machine anyway.
However, my T40p, needs to sent in once I get my T42p back because the USB 2.0 has died for the second time (it thinks it's USB 1.1). Overall, my T40p is working. I don't want to send it in while IBM possibly waits for a part.
My question: Is there a way to get onsite service from IBM without it costing an arm and a leg (possibly as part of the purchase price)?
I'm not sure there's a solution now, but I'm thinking for the future.
Cheers,
Brian

If a system is still in warranty, you can upgrade the warranty. http://www-132.ibm.com/content/home/sto ... grades.htm
The pricing seems reasonable.

You can also bring it to any IBM authorized repair center and they should repair it under warranty - for instance in my area http://www.cssnow.com/
Googling for IBM authorized repair will locate one in your area.
