Hitachi Travelstar 7k200 in T43 - any chance?

#1 Post by Angulion » Mon Jul 09, 2007 8:33 pm

Hi,
I own a T43 with a 60GB hard drive (see signature for details) and want to upgrade to a larger one. On the Lenovo homepage the largest drive that is offered for my computer is the 7k100. I called the IBM/Lenovo tech support and they basicly confirmed this.
However, I wondered whether it is possible to use one of the new Hitachi Travelstar 7k200 drives as the primary drive in my laptop. If not as a primary drive could I use it as a secondary hd in the UltraBay?
Suggestions? Solutions? Comments? Alternatives?
Thanks in advance and so long,
Andy

(p.s.: Before posting this question I have searched this forum for related topics and found useful information, but I am still unclear about this point. I apologize if this question is just a repetition of what has been asked before.)

The 7k200 is an SATA drive. The storage controller in a T43 is IDE.

No chance without a big surgery to remove the PATA -> SATA bridge.
