What is the point of the ultrabay light?

#1 Post by Pyroraptor » Thu Jul 12, 2007 3:20 pm

Every time I shut the lid on my T40 at night, I see two lights on. The battery charged/charging light and a little green LED right above the ultrabay. What is the point of the one above the ultrabay? It doesn't seem to serve any purpose as far as I can tell, and its even on when the system is in 'suspend' mode. I've got a DVD-ROM in mine if it makes any difference.

This was asked a while back but i guess i can say it again.

The ultrabay light let's you know when it's "safe" to remove the drive. Sure some people just pluck it out but you're supposed to eject it first (from Windows) and then remove it. There's also that lil switch at the side that can do the samething, you flip it and then the light turns off and you then remove it.

And i guess there should be a 3 lil light - the Sleep light :)

Hrm, I searched for other posts about it but found none. Thanks for the info though :)

And no, I just have two lights on because I don't put it to sleep at night, it stays up and logs some IRC channels.
