Trusted Platform Module Intermittent Problem on Boot

#1 Post by unimorpheus » Sun Jul 15, 2007 12:00 pm

Good morning all,

I have been experiencing a strange behavior while booting my 43p. From time to time the TPM will be reported as disabled. This error takes the fingerprint reader offline forcing a password login. If I shutdown or restart at the login prompt the TPM will detect correctly on the next boot and all is well.
The 43 will boot tens of times with no issue and out of the blue the TPM will go offline. The TPM has never failed on two consecutive boots (knock on wood). The BIOS and embeded controller firmware are current and the TPM is of course enabled in the BIOS. I have searched the forum with no relevant results. Any thoughts?

I have exactly the same problem - with one difference: on my machine sometimes even a reboot doesn't bring back FingerprintReader to live. In this case I have to uninstall/reinstall the fingerprint-software.

My system:

T43p 2668-F8G, Vista Enterprise, all actual IBM/Lenovo drivers/software installed, latest bios and embedded controller version flashed.

Any help for our problem?
