T42p problems

#1 Post by Cecilia76 » Wed Oct 20, 2004 6:42 am

Hallo,

I've recently took a T42p 2373-HTG
with English preload. But I have the following problems:

1. I can't create the recovery CD with the ad-hoc program because I have an error like: "An internal error caused the program to fail"

2. When I enter the hidden partition with Access IBM during startup
I have an error like: "setupapi.log unreadable" but when I close the
msg box everything go ok

3. The modem (Lucent I suppose) is installed but XP doesn't recognize it
The drivers I have should be installed but the problem is that I can't see
any modem (or unrecognized comm device) in the system resources.
So I can't install the modem. Any idea?

I hope You can help me.

fkjnsdkjnvkjq....sorry, had my mouth full of frog...now where were we? Oh yes - are you sure the modem is actually installed? Check the card itself - it could be simply Ethernet and/or Bluetooth.

Well
I think it should be installed. I can see from outside the RJ11 connector and the Ethernet connector.
Do you think It could be not present?
Anyway, I should have because my model should have it.

Thanks.

I'm sure you should have the correct card - however mistakes can happen - simply looking at the outside of the laptop is no way to determine if the correct card is inside the machine ALL T4* have the RJ11 and Ethernet sockets...

If the modem is installed, it should either show up in Device Manager as "Lucent modem" or it should have a yellow question mark next to "unknown device". If you have neither of these, it may not have the CDC card installed (but your computer should have come with the modem/bluetooth card as standard)

Hallo,

no "Lucent modem" or yellow question mark. So maybe something has gone bad. I've just called IBM and they told me to unplug the CDC card and they will change it next week. I hope this will be enough.

Thanks, I'll let you know...
