Battery 2 Error - I don't have a battery 2!!!!

#1 Post by mish » Wed Jul 18, 2007 1:53 am

Hello everyone. I'm hoping someone else has seen this error before.

I have an IBM Thinkpad T43 Type 1871. Not sure what that means, and I don't know if it's a P or anything else. :) Sorry.

What I DO know is that I have one of those "bigger" batteries, that sticks out of the back of the laptop. This battery has always served me well and I'm very happy with it.

Recently, the battery light on the screen (next to the Bluetooth, and hard disk light, and caps lock, etc) is blinking YELLOW all the time (when it's on battery power, and when it's completely full).

When I place my mouse over the battery program (looks like a green battery on it's side and tells you how long you have left on battery power), it says this: 3:08 hours (93%) remaining, Battery 2: Error detected.

I don't have a battery 2. No matter how much I looked all over, I can't seem to get rid of this message. I also can't stop the battery indicator from blinking!

Has anyone encountered this before, or know what it could be?

Thanks for helping!!!

Michelle

Very weird to say the least. Did you try uninstall and reinstalling the power manager program? Maybe it just got a glitch somewhere and would like to be updated :)

I actually thought of that myself. :) This only happened after I updated some IBM program that the system update program told me I should update.

So my first reaction was to uninstall those programs, which didn't help.

So I uninstalled ALL my IBM programs, and that didn't help either.

I just don't understand why it think I have a second battery....
