help: cant connect wirelessly with hidden SSID!

#1 Post by skanky » Wed Oct 20, 2004 2:41 pm

ive got a T40 with a/b/g card, using access connections 3.30 and i cant connect to my netgear dg834 router unless i show the SSID, and i dont really want to do that!

im using WinXP SP1, WPA, latest bios, drivers etc. i have a netgear wg511 cardbus that connects to the network fine even if SSID is hidden.

any suggestions? please!

Setup a profile in Access Connections for your WAP and simply type in the SSID when you're asked.

No need to type it in every time, set the SSID as one of you preferred profiles in Access connections and it will remember it and connect when you're in range.

:D Just to add, a Guido or Vito would be WOP, as I understand it stands for With Out Papers, and that's how the term originated...

Glad I could help... :p

Having been"bread and buttered" in NYC, I do know the difference.

Especially since I'm the only one in NJ with more than 30 years of experience in the HAZMAT industry whose last name doesn't end in a vowel!

I have the same problem. Access Connections cannot connect to my Linksys router when SSID broadcast is disabled and using WPA, but WEP works fine. However, using Windows to config the wireless, it connects fine.
