- IBM announced today new models of the IBM ThinkPad T42p mobile workstation with Intel's 2.1 GHz Pentium M processor and new 855MP chipset. The ThinkPad T42p includes an enhanced version of IBM's Access Connections tool, Version 3.4. This enhanced version supports additional PC adapters as well as increased compatibility with wireless security standards, providing users simplified access to secure wireless connectivity. Coupled with an optional extended battery of up to 7.5 hours, the ThinkPad T42p offers robust security, manageability and processing power. Select models of the ThinkPad T42p will include fingerprint readers that work in tandem with IBM's Embedded Security Subsystem and Client Security Software to offer industry-leading computing security and data protection.
A new pimp T42 is also on sale at IBM's site for $4,379. They also have T42s with the embedded fingerprint reader (according to the spec sheet) at $2,079 and $2,449.
