Another Access Connections 3.20 Bug!

#1 Post by dagordon » Tue May 25, 2004 3:32 pm

Hi all,

I think I've actually managed to solve the Access Connections 3.20 stalling on logout problem by uninstalling and reinstalling the wireless NIC software and Access Connections 3.20 through the ThinkPad Software Installer.

But now I have another problem. Access Connections 3.20 has disabled my card's 802.11g capability! I have two T40s (one is a T40p), both of which I've upgraded with the a/b/g card. With 3.20 installed, I can only connect to my wireless network at 11mbps, and if I enable G only mode on my router, I can't connect at all.

BTW, I'm using Windows to configure my wireless, not AC. (But I want AC installed so that I have that utility in my system tray that gives me all of my wireless info.)

Uninstalling AC 3.20 solves the problem.

Anyone else having this problem?

Take care,
David

Alright this is rediculous, IBM needs to bring out another update that resolves all these issues. After reading the threads I was sure to avoid updating my Access Connections on my new T41p. So I still have the oldest version. I will wait till IBM brings out new drives and and newer version of AC. It may be a while though before IBM gets wind of the fact that there is a problem with their own software . Anyway, hopefully that update will come along soon as IBM updates often add a lot of good stuff to the software.

I think I've fixed this problem... I opened Access Connections, created a profile, and then closed it and reverted to Windows to configure my wireless. 802.11g seems to be active again.

On the other hand, has anyone noticed that the IBM a/b/g card can connect at 108mbps? I'm using a D-Link router and Windows tells me that I'm connected at 108mbps -- the D-Link supports this, and apparently the IBM card does too. But I *can't* get a 108mbps connection with AC installed, only with it uninstalled.

Take care,
David
