T41 LCD Replacement - by Qualex
T41 LCD Replacement - by Qualex
I had the LCD in T41 in my sig replaced today by Qualex (onsite repair around here). I just wanted to say that they are very good, but left me with a small problem that I wanted to post here in case anyone runs into the same issue. The problem was that the cover latch was sticking and would not self latch. I removed the LCD bezel, and what I found after a lot of head scratching was that there is a plastic film that starts at the top edge of the LCD that extends down the back of it about 2 inches. It's purpose is to hold/protect ribbon cabling on the back of the panel. The latch was catching on this film and sticking. What I did was remove the latch and loosened the top of the panel enough to allow me to take a razor and just shave off the plastic film on the top edge of the panel only (maybe a 1/4 inch wide strip), leaving the rest intact. After reassembly, the latch mechanism worked great. So, if you get a similar panel my advice would be to shave off the plastic film prior to installing it. Don't remove all of it because it does have a purpose.
