Rescue and Recovery files

#1 Post by fschwep » Thu Oct 21, 2004 8:49 am

Like many of us I have activated my T42's RRUBackup. However, I dis not realize that this backup would be written as a folder/files set on my normal HD partition (C:). I don't really mind that, but I would have liked to ensure the drive was defragged before doing the backup. Now the RRUBackup is quite fragmented, and I want to delete it, defrag the drive, then run Rescue and Recovery Backup again so I'll have neatly defragged RRUBackup files. However, the RRUBackup will not delete and the hidden and read-only flags can not be removed. I can't find a function in the Rescue and Recovery menu to delete an old backup from a drive. I would certainly want to be able to do that once I have purchased an external USB harddisk to store a recovery backup on and I no longer need the backup on the local HD. I don't mind keeping the service partition as this will at least enable me to recover to the factory install if Windows goes south while I am travelling, but loosing a lot of HD space to the RRUbackup is a bit of a shame.
Does anyone know how to get rid of the RRUBackup files once they have been created and you feel you no longer need them?

Thanks

I have been having the same trouble and finally got it. I am using Windows Pro with Advanced File Sharing turned on. I right-click on the folder, went to Sharing & Security, went to the Security tab, added myself as a user and gave myself Full Control. I then unchecked the read only checkbox and I was able to delete it. Hope this helps!
