Effects of CD-ROM Speed?

#1 Post by roberts5 » Mon Jul 23, 2007 10:03 am

I'm curious if anyone has any information on the effects of changing the CD-ROM Speed? There are three options: Fast, Normal, and Silent. Silent is defiantly quieter, but at what cost? I haven't done any testing and was hoping someone else might have some information on the read/write speed/quality effects of changing this.

If no one has anything I'll look into it.

well if all you're doing is watching movies then it wont matter, movies play at 1X anyways so you don't need it to be able to run at 8X. If you're burning discs it shouldn't matter as i think it will still run up to the highest speeds.

I hardly use my drive so i don't even bother with that. I'll hopefully be swapping it out for a Ultrabay battery soon ([shamless plug] i still need one so PM me!! LOL )
