2200bg and WEP

#1 Post by BruceDickinson » Mon Jul 23, 2007 6:54 pm

T42 with 2200bg mini pci
Netgear mr814 router
128-bit WEP
using windows zero config
access connections not installed

I tried the latest 2200bg drivers available at Intel and the latest at IBM/Lenovo, but could not get them to work with my WEP. The wireless card saw the network, but was "unable to connect." The IBM drivers did work with encryption turned off. I didn't test the Intel drivers with encryption off.

Anyone have any ideas?

I've been using Intel Driver 9.0.4.8 and it works. However, there's like a 30 second "network delay" associated with mrxsmb.sys according to bootvis. When I manually specifiy the ip and dns addresses (rather than allowing then to be obtained automatically), this delay goes away. (My T30 with a 2200bg mini-pci, with automatic addressing and ProSet managing the wireless, does not have this delay.)

I'd rather have the ip and dns addresses obtained automatically without a boot delay. I would also prefer not to use ac. Ideally I'd keep things simple and let windows zero config handle the wireless, but since ProSet has been good on my T30 I'd also be fine with that.

TIA for thoughts and suggestions.
