Jabra 620S BT headset and T43

#1 Post by bill bolton » Thu Jul 26, 2007 9:19 am

Has anyone been able to get a Jabra 620S Bluetooth headset working satisfactorily with the Bluetooth adapter in a T43, using the A2DP service mounted on XP Pro?

I'm running the latest the Lenovo supplied Widcomm driver (5.1.0.3100) and can pair the 620S with the T43 but only get occasional bursts of audio on the headset.

Cheers,

Bill B.

What version of the Widcomm stack is installed under Vista?

I don't know, I rarely boot into Vista anymore. Maybe this weekend I will go check it out for you.

well as far as i heard there isn't a Vista Widcomm stack just yet, people just use the XP one which isn't 100% working as of yet. I just use the MS one but i don't use it that much anyways and i'm sure it doesn't have A2DP profile. Boy do i wish it did.

Bill, can u elaborate your symptom in details? I'm using a T43p and Jabra BT620s and getting an intermittent sound on high-def audio stereo profile (most of the time quiet, than having sound). The headset low-quality profile works fine though. My current solution is to use the small bluetooth transmitter unit that came with BT620s with a minijack, to plug in to my audio out on my T43p instead.

In Vista it says:

Bluetooth Device (RFCOMM Protocol TDI)
Driver Version: 6.0.6000.16386

Is that what you want to know?

I get bursts of clear stereo sound, lasting for a second or so, but they are spaced well out from each other, at least 30 seconds or so.

Unfortunately, there was no mini transmitter in my T620s "bubble" package, which bought in June this year. I'm listening via the USB cable at present... but what I wanted was a set of headphones I could use without a cable!

I just now saw on the Broadcom web site that there is a downloadable update so I've grabbed that. It has a 5.1.0.3600 driver in it but the install instructions say it is specifically for dongle style BT adapters, and that it won't with integrated BT cards etc.

I've downloaded it and will see how it goes in terms of A2DP performance with the BT620s on my desktop with Dlink BT dongle adapter.

Cheers,

Bill B.

I have determined that the 5.1.0.3600 software download from Broadcom will, with some persistance (it took a couple of tries to get it in), install on a T43... now, on to see if it makes any difference!

Well, it made a difference, I am now getting a message saying...

"Bluetooth stereo headset does not support content protection or other required feature"

... and it wont establish a connection. ARGHHHHHH!!!!!

Otherwise 5.1.0.3600 seems to be fine with all my other BT devices.

Cheers,

So the Widcomm stack only works with SCMS-T supported devices?

This is seriously wierd, but today the Widcomm 5.1.0.3600 is connecting to my BT620s without any problems and giving me beautiful, continuous stereo with no interruptions at all. This is from all three computers that have the new stack on them, via three different BT interface devices.

I had a go at getting Bluetooth running under Vista on my T41 (which has no internal Bluetooth device) using both a DLink DBT-122 and Microsoft USB dongles but had no luck at all. Vista Ultimate just didn't want to play nicely in terms of device drivers, even for the Microsoft BT device!

Cheers,

Bill B.
