T43 Component difference between models

#1 Post by wazz » Fri Jul 27, 2007 8:34 am

Hi,
i have been working on a single sysprep'd image. In the domain enviroment that Im in we use numerous different models of IBM pc's and laptops. The image I have works on most models from netvistas to t61's but it doesnt work on the newer T43's and Im not sure why. I have heard that there is a component which deals with bridghing between the motherboard and the sata drive on the later models but I am unable to clarify this.
Any info would be great!

"While the physical disk is PATA (IDE), it is accessed through a SATA controller and a SATA-to-PATA bridge. It thus appears as a SATA device to the operating system, which causes some problems under Linux. The SATA-to-PATA bridge also necessitates drive firmware changes, causing a problem with non-ThinkPad hard disks."
