Confused about minidocks

I just snagged a decent but used Mini Dock (74P6734) that I'm using with my T43 2686. My Thinkpad does fit onto the minidock and the pass-through ports all seem to be working, but I'm wondering if this is really the proper part.

The fit isn't great, and it's a bit wobbly -- not at all the snug contact that I expect from a genuine IBM part.

This minidock has just one USB port. I'm wondering if it's different -- older -- than ones I see pictured on the net that seem to have 4 USB ports. It also doesn't have a lock-and-key on the side.

Can anyone enlighten me? Thanks.

74P6734 is the Port Replicator II, not the Minidock. Minidock has a lock and 4 USB ports.

Is the fit normally sort of not-so-snug on these things?

Ugh. Is the fit better with the venerable Dock II (287710U)? I'm accustomed to better from Eye Bee Em.
