YAD2Q - Yet another Dock II question

Is anyone out there using a Dock II with a Thinkpad and getting resolution superior to 1280x1024 on an external monitor?

With my cheap Port Replicator II connected to my T43 2886, I can actually drive my external 20" LCD monitor at 1600x1050 using either the DVI or VGA port. This is even though the PRII spec sheet says that it will only do 1280x1024. (My T43 drives its own lcd display at 1400x1050.)

I'm thinking of upgrading to the deluxe Dock II, but some posters have said that they're not able to get more than 1280x1024 on their high-res external monitors.

I would assume that the pass-through DVI on the Dock II is pretty much the same as on the Port Replicator II. But now I'm concerned that the fancier Dock II -- though the video port is described as "pass-through" -- may in fact have some sort of additional electronics in the interface that would give different results.

Does anyone have first-hand experience with this? If I were buying regular retail, I would just order the thing and try it. But I don't have that option in this case.

i'm curious about this too because i can get one for dirt cheap. I currently have a Port Replicator II and while i don't even use it that much i eventually plan on it. The Dock II has more USB ports which would come in handy but i'm curious about the above question too since i'd want at least 1680 x 1050 on a WSXGA+ LCD

I have a T42 on an dock II running 1600x1200 off the DVI port. The monitor is a 20.1 IBM LCD. I have not had any issues with this setup at all.

My Dock II arrived yesterday and I can attest that it does permit my T43 to drive a Dell 2007WFP at 1600x1050 using the Dock's DVI port. My T43 runs its own internal LCD panel at 1400x1050.
