T43p case warpage

#1 Post by unimorpheus » Tue Jul 31, 2007 10:04 am

Has anyone seen lower case warp issues in the T4x line? I have a 43p that is high in the center where the touchpad is located. This 'high center' causes the left and right lid latches to engage intermittently depending on what side you close the lid from. :o

Two hands are needed to apply slight pressure to each side to engage both lid latches when closing. Not a big problem. No motherboard issues yet but I can see a pronounced bow in the front of the lower case if viewed edge on. With the lid closed there is a 1/16" gap on each side with the center of the lid making contact with the base. Strange. Wasn't that way when I bought it.

With all of the components located in the lower portion of the case I am surprised there can be that much flex in the system. If I get board I will probably tear it down and look at reseating everything in the base.

onlything i can imagine is that you've been picking up the system by the corners which in turn bent the cage in the bottom half of the system. If you you gotta pick it up by the hinges since that's more sturdy there.

Nope, not so simple. I actually pick up the system by the back end in the middle. Close the lid, lift up back end, pick up. I had a 14" 43 that suffered screen damage from the keyboard so I am very particular about compressing the lid when closed. One of the reasons I moved to a 15" model.
