T42 not erasing CD's

#1 Post by Melvyn » Wed Aug 01, 2007 1:43 pm

My T42 (see sig) worked good for a time. Last friday, I was going to burn an .iso image to an used CD-RW and can't erase the cd. Tried with another and didn't erased. Tried with windows xp functions and nero and didn't worked in neither. I assumed CD's failures and used a new CD-RW.

Last night I tried to erase that CD and the same happen. Go to vista and again... Now at desktop all CDs are good and can be erased and written.

Windows XP's try to erase and "finish" good, but CD stays written. Nero bring an error.

After erasing the CD in my desktop machine, tried to burn an .iso image in laptop and it can't (using Roxio and Nero). From desktop it works.

Using a blank, new cd or cd-rw, it burns ok.

Somebody have experiencied it?

My CD-RW drive is: HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4242N

I had the same problem when I had my T42. It was still under warranty and IBM replaced it for me. :D
