Latest ATi FireGL V3200 driver does not support 1400x1050?
Latest ATi FireGL V3200 driver does not support 1400x1050?
I just reinstalled Windows XP SP2 on my T43p 2668-ILV. And now I can't set my screen resolution to 1400x1050@50Hz with the new driver from Lenovo. Only way I found to set it to 1400x1050@50Hz was to uninstall the driver and use the driver supplied with Windows XP.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum.
After reading your post I thought you had done something wrong, so I downloaded the driver and installed it. Exactly the same problem.
Now the job is: find the solution

I had this problem initially going to ATI rather than Lenovo to update the driver. Fortunately, the driver Lenovo was downloading at the time was still one version backn and fixed the problem.
You need to find a copy of the last version of the driver. One thing that might help – when you run System Update, the program clutters up your disk space with complete copies of the individual loader programs for EACH driver that it updates. Look in this path:
Program Files\Lenovo\System Update\session
They are arranged by file number, which is not recognizable, so it might take some time to go through the directories to see what is there. If you or anyone else you know with a similar machine ran system update when the video driver was one version back, you can get the driver you need.
BTW, does anyone know how to inform Lenovo that they have a bug in one of there download files? I sent them e-mail and they said to contact support. But my machines are out of warranty and they want to open a ticket for $$ to even let you speak with one of their incompetent technicians. And since they contract the service out to a third party, I doubt that there is a good communication path back to the factory anyway. “Updating” a driver with one that does not work is really a disservice that they should know about.

I've spoken to Lenovo this morning about this, at first the guy said I was trying to install the wrong driver and tried to get me to instll the vista driver
He realised his mistake and rang me straight back.
The problem has now been escalated. Let's wait and see

Thanks for the info! I just installed the Omega driver. 1400x1050 is there, but I only see 30Hz 41Hz 60Hz 75Hz and 85Hz. Do you know if running it @ 60Hz would hurt the monitor ?gunston wrote:this a known issue for the T43 latest graphic version isn't supporting the High resolution.
You may either roll back to the old driver or use the ATI Omega driver for your T43 ...
I have the same problem but it is even more strange than you guys describe it. When I install the new driver it comes up in 1400x1050 50Hz after rebooting. But if I shut down and boot up again the driver will not support that resolution. Same thing if I roll back to the previous driver. It will work the first time only.
I noticed that the driver install also installed .NET framework 2.0. Perhaps that is a problem. I am running .NET 3.0.
I should also mention that the problems started after I (by mistake) downloaded an ATI driver from Microsoft as part of running Windows Update.

I remember having the same problem. Unfortunately I cannot give you an exact solution because I do not remember it.
I believe the driver has two displays turned on by default, hence the 1024x768 resolution. Try identifying the monitor, fiddling with the settings regarding dual display in the driver properties or via presentation director.

T43p
ATI driver
I reinstalled windows XP this past weekend and had downloaded the ATI driver and the Catalyst package and they would not work in the T43 2668-44U.
Then I downloaded thelatest and greatest from the Lenovo website and that did not work either.
So I went back to the driver from a year and a half ago and it zoomed right in.......I am not sure why we can't update the drivers but this one is working.
