radio powered on but not associated

#1 Post by sanru » Sat Aug 04, 2007 9:01 am

Hello,

My T40 has been working great for 3 years; I have a new T61 (Vista) for work but still prefer using the T40 (XP)......however...over the weekend my wireless stopped working.

I can see hot points...but their signal is zero and I can't connect.

I unloaded access connections and tried to connect by windows. No Luck

I uninstalled my wireless driver (Intel Pro LAN 2100 3B) and no difference when it re-loaded.

The Access connection box gives me the error message "radio powered-on, but not associated"

What on earth does that mean?

I'd appreciate any feedback

Bill

When you deleted AC, did you check the box to "controll wireless connections with windows"? I had a similar problems about 6 month ago on all of our computers (Microsoft update?) that went away when I deleted AC and just used windows.

Hi Keith,

I selected the box 'choose windows to control wireless' after deleting access connections......and still can't connect

Thanks for the good point

The only other thing I can think of is that you ae not getting a IP address from your router/access point. Have you tried rebooting everything (modem/router/accesspoint/computer) to see if it works?
