Does anyone know what the keyboard scan codes are for the forward/back buttons (above the arrow keys)? I'd like to remap them so that I can use them in Opera.
I have found a site that has the scan codes for an A30p, but these don't seem to work.
forward/back button scan codes
This was a message in the old forum that I had saved. I have no idea who posted it, and I haven't tried it myself. If you try it and it works, please let us know:

Re-using the forward and back buttons on ThinkPads (from Bill's forum):
I was very frustrated with two buttons IBM put on TP keyboard recently - "Back" and "Forward" around the cursor keys. I did not used them anyway, but sometimes it happened I accidentally went "back" and the whole form vanished :(. After a while I learned to avoid them and now I figured out how to make them left and right Windows key. Inspired by Bill's hints on thinkpads.com and MSDN I made registry entry which does this:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout]
"Scancode Map"=hex:00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,03,00,00,00,5b,e0,6a,e0,5c,e0,69,e0,\
00,00,00,00
You can enter it manually or cut and import directly. There is no need to install keyboard configuration utility or use any other 3rd party software, just change the registry.
Also, to disable them:
Though it's never been an issue for me, I know that some users dislike the browser keys because of accidentally hitting them.
I just installed the new Keyboard Customizer Utility 1.2.92.0 (released 4/7/2004) and on the third tab, you can disable the Browser buttons and adjust the sensitivity.

I got a registry hack to work to remap the keys. I used a graphical front end (KeyTweak) to make the registry hack a bit easier. It was easy to use it to remap the "WWW forward/back" keys to whatever I wanted. In this case I remapped them to "x" and "z" for moving forward/back in Opera. Thanks to everyone for the help.
