adjust screen contrast - how?
adjust screen contrast - how?
I'd like a touch more contrast for my display. The whites are a bit washed out right now. I can't seem to find where to make this simple adjustment.

To the best of my knowledge, you only have the option of adjusting the brightness on ThinkPad's (T4x), under Windows XP. If you carry out a full color calibration of your display, and use some program which will actually take that monitor .icc/.icm profile into use (e.g. PhotoShop), then you can adjust the display contrast very precisely, but in a "pure Windows XP context", I think you will need some kind of utility intended for LCD's - try e.g. Gamma Panel or Dimon - Tinted Glasses or similar.
I haven't tried any of these tools, so I don't know if they work on LCD's (or, if so, how good?), but take a look and tell us if it worked out!

... Update: If you have an ATI display interface with the "Catalyst Control Center" installed (otherwise get it here), go to the Color settings there, and you may be able to adjust Gamma, Brightness and Contrast (in Windows XP, open Display Properties, Settings, Advanced, Catalyst Control Center).

Thank you Johan. As soon as you mentioned ATI, I remembered seeing the ATI logo on some display settings many weeks ago, but I didn't remember how to get that again. I failed to explore the "Advanced" button in the ControlPanel/DisplayProperties/Settings. I don't believe how I missed that! Anyway.. I made the adjustment: reduced gamma, reduced brightness, and increased contrast. That did the trick.
