Will a Seagate Momentus 100GB 7200rpm on T41 work OK?

#1 Post by chicomark » Wed Aug 08, 2007 9:46 pm

Hi I ordered a Hitachi 7200prm from my local but they've informed me they can no longer get it.

Is the Seagate Momentus 100GB 7200rpm fully compatible with a T41 (Specific model is 2373-1FM, but that shouldn't matter)?

I've seen some posts about 2010 errors on T43's, are there any similar problems with T41's?

Thanks!
Mark

The T43 bios problems do not apply to T41. The Seagate drive will work. Just make sure you get the PATA version.

I have the 160 gig version, and it flies. worth the extra money for the bigger drive - after all, we ALLWAYS fill up what we have!

I just got one for my R50p, which is almost identical to the T41. It works flawlessly.

PATA for a T41? I thought that everything before the T6x series was ATA. Am I wrong about this?

PATA is Parallel ATA vs SATA Serial ATA. It works fine with T41, I use one with the T41p.

so does this mean i can use any (pata) harddrive with my T41p?
i won't get the 2010 error?
and will the APS also work if i use a new harddrive?

is the 2010 error only present in T43 models??

sorry for the questions - but i think my 60GB 7200rpm drive is dying  . and this "thinkpad option drives" cost to much
ridiculous :

EUR 300.- is indeed ridiculous for a 100GB HDD,
special firmware or not.
These guys really want to scare away their customers. :?:

Any drive will work as the sensors are built into the motherboard, not the drive.

i know, but look here: UNLOAD IMMEDIATE
http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Problem_w ... escription
and http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Problem_w ... of_the_box
The Fujitsu MHV2060AH/MHV2100AH/MHV2120AH drives also support the UNLOAD IMMEDIATE feature needed for HDAPS, according to their published specifications. No other non-ThinkPad PATA laptop drives are known to support UNLOAD IMMEDIATE.
thanks
