Two Battery discharge sequence

#1 Post by frankie66 » Mon Aug 13, 2007 4:42 pm

This question could probably be asked of other TPs but since I have a T42 I'll ask it here:

When I have the ultrabay slim battery installed, the TP always dischages this battery first and not the main battery. Is there a way to reverse this so that the bay battery discharges 2nd?
I carry spare main batteries and the point of the bay battery is to keep the TP powered while I change a main battery. But because it discharges first I have to keep removing the bay battery to prevent it from going flat and not allowing me to do the switch over.

Pls don't suggest hibernation as an alternative, it always seems to break something when I try that.

This behavior has been reported previously. To the best of my knowledge no one has been able to change the charge order. If you want, you can search the forum for ultrabay slim battery threads - in case my memory is faulty.

Great question. I have the same problem with my T41 and was wondering the same thing. It is annoying at best. Let me know if anyone finds an resolution to this. Thanks!

always been that way buddy, you probably wont find any solutions for it since there isn't any. Just have to deal with it or keep buggin IBM to change this behavior. You know what would be nice? To actually use em both at the sametime like the Dell C series did. For some reason, 1 battery at a time gave me less than 1hr each but combined i can get 3hrs since it drained them both but just a small amount from each.
