FDD External Cable for T20 - work on T42?

I have one of these. Works great on my T30. Will it work on a T42? I even have a floppy. -kj-

The External Cable Kit consists of two parts: FRU 27L0525 (Cable) and 08K6360 (Parallel Port Adapter). The adapter is for use ONLY on the T20/T21 parallel port and must be removed when connecting the FDD to the ThinkPad Dock or Port Replicator. Then the FDD cable may be directly attached to the FDD connector on the ThinkPad Dock or Port Replicator.

ThinkPad Dock is option P/N 2631-10U (with US power cord) ThinkPad Port Replicator is P/N 02K8667, FRU 02K8669.

Nope, the parallel port FDD functionality was discontinued after the T30. The T4x series is designed for the USB FDD. You will need a Port Replicator II to use the cable (without the parallel port adapter) and the FDD in the T4x.

Ah! As I suspected. Thanks.

Guess my best bet is a bootable USB key (which I have, no cost) and a 2nd HDD adapter, which I'm sourcing now. Shame the one for my T30 won't fit. That reminds me, I've gotta get this bad boy up on eBay this weekend...
