DVI suport only for (p)erformance models?

#1 Post by JD24 » Tue Oct 26, 2004 4:26 pm

Hello,

i like to buy a T42 entry model (2373-5WG) and i am
wondering whether this model supports DVI via
the Thinkpad Portreplicator II.

Some germany sites claims that only the p-models supports DVI???

Can somebody confirm this?

The T42 i'm eyeing has Radeon 7500 with 32mb ram, does that matter?

I used the search function but i'm not sure about the german models.

Thx

JD

From a technical standpoint, there is nothing different about the T42p that would make it do DVI and the regular ATI radeon T42 not do it. The "FireGL" in the T42p is a Radeon9600 with special drivers. Also, from the IBM website it sure seems like the DVI on ti should work just fine for a normal T42.

Thanks for your answer.

Some german magazines complains about the signal quality
of the VGA port of the thinkpads so i'am interested in the DVI port
on the replicators.
