T42 Standy mode: laptop warm

#1 Post by wearetheborg » Wed Aug 15, 2007 4:12 pm

Thinkpad T42, debian etch
Standby works with no problem, but the area at the bottom directly below the touchpad stays warm. In windows its cooler.

What component is in the area roughly below the spacebar ?
HP NC8000 UXGA; Dell Precision M90 WUXGA; R50P UXGA

Right below the touchpad is the Wifi card. Just above that (where the spacebar would be) is the GPU.

Also, download a copy of the Hardware Maintenance Manual for the T40-T42 systems. That should tell you (mostly) everything you need to know about the system and how it's put together (or taken apart).
