Use Google.
Redisafe is a backup solution, so it has nothing in common with stanby or hibernate.

ok googled for this:

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... JUJBS.html
In RediSafe suspend mode, all tasks are stopped, and memory data and the status of the computer are stored on the hard disk drive
..so what makes that so different to what regular hibernate already does? there has to be some reason why this is..

As I understand it (and might be very wrong) when you have enabled RediSafe and suspend your computer, the NB goes into suspend mode, but all the memory content is stored in the hibernation file (as normal hibernation). The advantage is, that when you loose power you don't lose all your work and can resume as from normal hibernation. And you still keep to advantages of suspend - fast startup.

i assume it drains the power the same as going into standby, yes?

does redisafe work when for example the battery goes to x% which triggers a (redisafe) standby?

it could be quite useful if it thats the case!

Exactly. But it isn't supported with Windows XP and 2000, anyway. It's nothing more than a legacy option.
