What kind of RAM did you install in it? I know you said it's from an old Dell, but who made the sticks and what speed are they?
New:
Thinkpad T430s 8GB DDR3, 1600x900, 128GB + 250GB SSD's, etc.

I've got one of the T40s mentioned previously in the thread (as stated, it'll be a handy parts machine once I buy a T4x 14.1" for my parents), and here's what I've done/found out so far.

After putting in a battery, the battery icon appears amber coloured (ie, the "charging" colour). When an adapter is plugged in, combo drive installed, and the power button is pressed (with Kingmax 512MB PC2700 RAM that worked flawlessly in my previous T40 and my T42 installed in the under keyboard slot), all the icons appear to flash as usual but there's no picture. There's no difference seen when I hook up an external monitor.

CPU is a SL6F9, so proper 1.5GHz Banias.

So I guess this one's going to be a parts machine for sure...unless there are any other thoughts.
