Do All T42's Have 400Mhz Bus Speed?

#1 Post by CRSO » Wed Aug 22, 2007 8:33 pm

even with the Dothan processor? I have a T42 1.7Ghz

I want to find out which parts are interchangeable with my T43, all the way down to the RAM.
I'd rather have a 3 year old IBM than a new Dell (or HP)...

T60 2623-D7U, 14.1" SXGA+, 2.0Ghz, 1.50GB, 200GB, 160GB UB, DVDRW, a/b/g, WWAN, 128MB ATI X1400, BT, FP, 9-cell

Bus speed in T42 (and T41) is 333. You cannot share RAM with T43

Really? I was reading Thinkwiki and it listed the Dothan at 400 or 533. Even the Banias was at 400.

Am I missing something?

T41's and 42's use a 400MHz FSB Dothan (or Banias), the T43's use a 533Mhz FSB Dothan.

Roger that... that's what I thought. richk said it was 333 and it really threw me off.

I'll tell you, the T42 1.7 400Mhz I just got seems right up there with my T43 1.8 533Mhz. Can't notice too much of a difference, even when running Sony Acid, Soundforge and / or Photoshop.

I thought the T42 would be a lot slower...

I believe that T42's runs with 400 MHz system bus (CPU) clock speed, but with 333 MHz type DDR1 RAM; see the Personal Systems Reference Lenovo ThinkPad Notebooks, 2005 to present - withdrawn, August 2007 - Version 326 - the ltwbook.
IBM T42p's (2373-Q1U & -Q2U): 2.1 GHz, 15" UXGA FlexView, 2 GB RAM, 128 MB FireGL T2, 128 GB 1.8" SATA SSD, IBM a/b/g, BT, Win 7 Ultimate
IBM T42 (2373-N1G): 1.8 GHz, 15" SXGA+ FlexView, 2 GB RAM, 64 MB Radeon 9600, 64 GB 1.8" SATA SSD, IBM a/b/g, BT, Win 7 Ultimate
