I don't like T40 due to high pitched noise... :(

just own T40 for a week and need to sell it due to annoy the picthed noise.. so sad for my first IBM laptop

It sounds like there is a problem with that laptop. I have a T40 and it is very quiet. Why not just fix it rather than say they are all bad?

I had that problem on my computer before (T43). I took it apart, and guess what I found, a broken bearing on the fan. Got a new fan, and the noise was gone (note that before the replacement fan came in, my old fan broke, so I couldnt turn comp on for a while). The noise lasted about 1.5 years before the fan broke.
