Should it be a screw there? If so what kind?

I was wondering about the same thing yesterday.
I have no screw in this place as well, so I assume everything is fine.

That is a place for a security screw to lock the optical drive in place. You can get screws that have funny security heads that look like Torx screws with a pin in the middle.

Everything is fine, if you don't swap your optical drive or whatever very often, you have the option of making it secure by using the appropriate screw in said orifice. No1 screw should do the job.

richk, yes you are right about the torx screws, they are used in the motor trade widely (and other trades no doubt) and known as tamperproof torx..
