T21: Display problem

Hi everybody,

i have the following problem with my display:

I often see a green bar on the left side of the display...and when there are dark colors on the screen I see green and blue dots all over the display,... but when I try to close the laptop and I put the display 45 degrees down everything is fine and the bar and dots are away. When I put the screen back in the normal position the bar etc. comes back.
This effect is independent from the installed OS and an external monitor works properly.

I think there is a loose connection between display cable and system board or something....so I opened the laptop as described in the ibm hardware maintenance manual to see if this is the problem.
But just before the last step I damaged the screw which connects the hinge cover to the laptop so that I can't get it out

Does anybody have an idea where the problem comes from an how to get the damaged screw out?
