lost On-Screen display

On one of my T41, the on-screen display utility no longer works.. this is the green bars that show either volume display brightness. I have reinstalled the Thinkpad Configuration Utility by no change.. this happened when the registry got messed up, I was able to recover everything else except this.

Great.. thanks for the link, everything back to normal. all set till the next time I have to fix this T41, this is the laptop my two sons use.. so it is always interesting what happens to it.
