#1 Post by teknoT42 » Sat Oct 30, 2004 1:16 am

Hello All,
My thinkpad after logging on shows a blank desktop for about 10 seconds before it actually loads the taskbar and icons?
how can i get it so that when i log on the desktop with the icons and starbar come up automatically and not delay
thanks for the replies :)

My guess is that it is loading several things in the background.

-Do you have adequate memory?
-Do you defragment often?
-Try running msconfig and deselect anything unneeded from the Startup tab. What exactly to unselect is up to you...anyone else here have a list of recommended items to leave checked???

Umm... You might want to re-enable the Synaptics one, that's for your UltraNav trackpad...

Before I disable any services I don't know, check them at places like http://www.windowsstartup.com/wso/search.php first. I am always afraid to disable some essential services.

For instance you disabled the ATI contral panel, which comes in handy at times, but is not essential for most operations.
