i usually use SpeedswitchXP to force maximum cpu performance on laptops.
with the current T43 i'm working on, i noticed that SpeedswitchXP does not always correctly identify the maximum cpu speed. additionally, it also seems unable to keep the cpu running at it's highest speed.
i'm guessing the T43 BIOS power management (pm) settings override the windows xp pm settings (what SpeedswitchXP modifies). can someone confirm this?
i went into the BIOS and changed the "power mode for battery" setting from "maximum battery life" to "maximum performance". i'm assuming this will keep the cpu pegged (regardless of whether or not i'm using SpeedswitchXP), although i'd love confirmation of this also.
i'm going to monitor the T43 as i'm working on it, observing whether or not the cpu remains running at it's highest speed.
is SpeedswitchXP unnecessary with T43s? or does SpeedswitchXP offer pm features that are not possible by simply using the BIOS pm settings combined with the windows xp pm settings? and can SpeedswitchXP be used in harmony with T43s (i.e., without pm conflicts)?

SpeedswitchXP - max cpu - bios vs win pm
the BIOS settings are APM but Windows will take over using ACPI. If you want full speed then just install Power Manager and set the system to High Performance or High Battery Performance.
Power Manager comes with all those features so you wont have to install software such as what you mentioned.
