T42/p really has the "GPU" and "USB" as

#1 Post by bin.dong » Tue Sep 04, 2007 1:46 pm

I searched this forum. I saw lots of thinkpader reported the "GPU" and "USB" problems as "Known" problem? I just got my T42p, I got a little worry about it. It's working fine so far but I just like to know the entire T42/p has such problems?

specifically what GPU and USB problems are you referring to?   i had a T42p (2373-Q1U) for three years and never once had a hardware problem with it.

i have a T42 also and no problems with it, nor did the T41 i had before.

The USB problems i think he's talking about is the infamous USB 2.0 problem where it just wont work in that speed, it falls back to 1.1 and stays there.

The GPU is the flexing of the motherboard that causes the GPU to become loose.

As i'm sure you've seen, there were some cautions laid out in those threads also. Don't pick up the machine by the corner as that's a no-no. And for the USB well, that's mainly a T40 problem which i think is all worked out by the T41s came out.

Just enjoy your T42p and no one-hand picking.
If you take good care of your machine you would not have any problems.
My T42p is more than one year old and no problems at all

Yes, you're right. This is what I am talking about.

Wow, I don't know it falls back to USB 1.1. I'll try transfer some data today, see how it goes.

Thanks
