Delete Rapid Restore ?

#1 Post by LeoB » Sat Oct 30, 2004 8:44 pm

I just used the recovery CD's to reformat (?)/reload XP on my T40. I then put on SP2 and then reloaded all my programs.

I did not run Rapid Restore and would like to delete it and the "E" partition that was created. Can I delete RR just by going into IBMTOOLS and deleting it? Then can I go into Disk Management and delete the E partition (which doesn't show up in My Computer)?

Thanks,
Leo :?: :?:

Unless you have some other backup strategy, I would advise you to install Rescue & Recovery V2 (it includes rapid Restore Ultra V4). Use Rescue & Recovery for your system backups at the very least.

Rescue & Recovery can be downloaded from here ...

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... IGR-4Q2QAK

You can also view the Deployment Guide from there as well. Read it. Then install R&R and start making regular backups.

Well, I back up all my working data a couple times a week to a 20MB external USB HDD, and then my very current working files I back up daily to a 1GB USB flash drive. I have never had a problem before that crashed my T40, and I've also seen quite a few issues that people have had with RR.

If my T40 would crash while on a trip, I'm quite comfortable that my working data wouldn't be a major issue. I carry a full set of recovery CD's with me, too.

I also like to keep things as simple as possible. That's why I'd rather rely on external back-ups that I could then access on any other PC instead of hoping that the RR would work.

Do you have any idea of just how reliable/uncomplicated this new version is?

Thanks,
Leo

Rescue & Recovery is fine, simple to install and use.
However, if you're happy with your current backup/restore strategy then stick with that.
