Flexview - outdoors! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
Well all I have to compare it to is my T30, and, there is NO COMPARISON. The screen is incredibly bright and clear outside - I'm sitting out on my patio in broken sunlight (through trees) - partial shade - and it's awesome. My T30 was washed out quite a bit in this very same spot last time I tried it.
I also just spent the better part of the weekend hammering on my T42p and the more I use it the more I love it. The larger form factor *IS* noticeable, but, I WANTED the big bootiful screen, and it's WORTH IT! (at least to me)

IBM Thinkpad T42p 2373-KXU | 2.0ghz Pentium® M 755 | 2gb RAM | 15" UXGA Flexview | FireGL T2 128mb | 60gb @ 7200rpm | CDRW/DVD Multiburner | IBM a/b/g
Yes, but do they look the same outdoors? I can barely see my screen in a brightly lit room, let alone outside.salaz wrote:I have not noticed difference between by 15" flexview and the 14.1" UXGA screen at 1400x1050 - They both appear equally sharp to me.
T60p (200784U) - standard (no upgrades... yet)

That's very strange, since my brandnew T40p with SXGA+ is so bright that I usually turn it down to level 3.
Other folks complained that this displays is way too weak. Even outdoors in bright day light I use seldom more than level 5.
I got my 3 year old display exchanged on my T20, which is now so bright that I have to turn it down to Level 2!
Before the exchange I used full bright level all the time.
So it seems, IBM has either got a new supplier or they have gotten brand new technology.
I recently compared both screens to a flexview. Hardly any difference in brightness !!!
Just the angles are not so good, of course.

I really had no idea things were so bad in the United States
I have used my T42 with Flexview in real, fully working, sunlight here in France, and it's really good - I can send you a photograph if you wish. I tend to restrict access to this photo as colleagues here have become rather jealous - particularly as the IT guy where I work (Me) supplied them all with HP laptops...kjarrett wrote: in broken sunlight
