15" UXGA Problem, Like pressing mark

on the bottom of left and right corner, shadow appears on both of sides. not big but viewable. It likes pressing marker but never disappear. I am not sure this is the LCD panel problem or all UXGA screens have the similar issue.

BTW, from right to left view looks better but still viewable.

dark shadows at the lower corners indicate the backlight is failing. It is like a regular fluorescent bulb getting dark at the ends. If you have any warranty left, now is the time to use it.

If you can't replace the screen with the warranty (maybe it has expired, or Lenovo thinks it's too minor a defect to justify replacement, etc.), start taking better care of the screen to prolong its life as much as possible. For example, turn it off whenever it's not in use by pressing Fn + F3, and use the lowest brightness you can tolerate even when plugged in.

The problem is the backlight or the LCD panel itself?

It's hard to diagnose without seeing it, but yes, it is probably the backlight. I just took a laptop under warranty to a dealer, thinking I would be better off talking to a human in person, with small dark places the size of dimes at the lower corners, and he replaced the 15" SXGA+ one with a new one. The dealer certainly had less understanding of the problem than I did. (I fix machines.) On the phone, he told me that newer thinkpads didn't have bulbs. When I brought the machine in, I also brought a broken T4x panel that I opened to show the backlight. He could see that the shadows were right above the ends of the bulb.

I brought my laptop into a computer shop this morning. That tech will order a new UXGA screen (warranty replacement) for me, at this point, I am not sure this solution is gonna fix my problem or I still need that backlight bulbs after the screen is replaced?

The backlight is inside the LCD panel.
