Wifi Upgrade Question

#1 Post by clickpoint » Sun Sep 09, 2007 8:38 pm

I posted in GENERAL HARDWARE FORUM, but got no replies...
Maybe I can get some help here..........

I am looking to upgrade my T42, and would like to get a/b/g card.

In the HMM, the cards are listed as MINI PCI ADPATER or MINI PCI ADAPTER II....

What is the difference? Can I use either type in my machine, or are there 2 types of adapters?

Thanks

There are three ABG adapter that will work for sure (without the no-1802 hack).

-IBM/Atheros ABG
-IBM/Atheros ABG II
-IBM/Intel 2915ABG

If you'd like the IBM/Intel 2915ABG, I have a few for sale in the marketplace now! -> http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=49181

I am running one in my T40 as I write this, no issues at all.
T510, i7-620m, NVidia, HD+, 8GB, 180GB Intel Pro 1500 SSD, Webcam, BT, FPR Home
T400s, C2D SP9400, Intel 4500MHD, WXGA+, 8GB, 160GB Intel X18-M G2 SSD, Webcam, BT, FPR Travel
Edge 14 Core i5 | Edge 15 Core i3 | Edge 15 Athlon II X2| Edge 15 Phenom II X4

Whats the difference b/w abg and abg ii?

Is the intel stable?????????? I have same for my Dell, and reception was terrible, and kept dropping signal. Switched to atheros which has been quite stable.

Yes!

I'm involved with a large fleet of T4x and T6x ThinkPads that use various Intel WiFi adapters. They are very stable and perform excellently in both my personal and corporate experience.

Cheers,
