Will QXGA (2048x1536) screen option be available for T42p?

T4x series specific matters only

What is the inverter for? Why can't you use the old one?

I was wondering if it's possible to buy a Toshiba 12.1" 1400x1050 LCD
(here). However, as I said, what is the inverter for? Is the specific to the LCD? Meaning, I couldn't go grab an X61T inverter (which supports 1400x1050) res and use it with the other panel?
Past: T42, T60
Present: X61s, Y450
Future: X302?

raising the dead again. after comparing the UXGA and QXGA panel specs, i found that the QXGA panel is 1mm thicker (7.5mm vs. 6.5mm).   this is likely enough of a difference to make installing the Q panel in a 15" T42p/T43p.   the R50p lid/bezel assembly is thick enough to compensate for the extra millimeter where the T-series is not.

EDIT: after looking at R50p photos again, it might be possible to install a complete R50p panel assembly (lid, bezel, and screen) onto a T42p.   if this works then the only downsides are that the T42p would be thicker when closed and it would lose the "thinkpad black" finish on the lid.

I am pretty sure that works because such a mod has been reported on some Chinese and/or Japanese sites.
