Buying a non-OEM battery for my T43?

#1 Post by iceapatel » Sun Sep 16, 2007 1:26 pm

Hello all,

I was just wondering if anyone had any experiences with buying a non-OEM replacement battery for their IBM.

My T43's original 6-cell battery is down to < 50% capacity so I need a new one. The IBM website is selling those 92P1101 batteries for $150 + tax. On eBay, I found a guy selling the same (though non-OEM) battery for like $40 (*).

Has anyone gone this route, and if so, how did it turn out? Are there any theoretical or practical disadvantages to buying a non-IBM replacement battery like this?

Thanks for the help!

Crazy. If it's for cost, just buy an OEM unit on eBay. I recently picked up a brand new one for less than $40. It was a new 6-cell.

hmm he says it's "barely used" so check this one out:

Oddly enough that's my town where he lives and no i'm not him or work for him or anything. Atleast email him to find out how many cycles and how much charge is actually left. From a Design of 47.44whrs or something if you get 40-45whr i'd be all over it for that price.

i have a t41p and the long life battery didn't last more than 1 hour after 2.5 years. Would have cost me around $AUD300, so I got an OEM one for $AUD99.

Works fine - had it over a year now, and would buy another OEM one.

The IBM website is selling those 92P1101 batteries for $150 + tax.
Now you know why IBM is a rich and powerful company
