T42 Wireless LCD indicator not working??
T42 Wireless LCD indicator not working??
I have a T42 and my wireless is working with no problems, but the built in wireless indicator lcd is not working. I am unable to find any reference on the maintenance manual on where this hook up to?
Any ideas from the group?
Thank you,

Thank you,
you mean the LED under the LCD bezel? The light doesn't come on at all? The ThinkVantage stuff says it's on or off?

Did it ever work? Can you see the WiFi icon in the Status Lights area? Do you have an IBM branded WiFi card? Are you using the Lenovo supplied WiFi drivers? Do you have the Lenovo ACPI Power Management driver and the Hotkey driver installed?
I am not sure if all of the above is necessary to light the WiFi light, but if all the above is true, then maybe you need a new inverter card which has the Status Light LED's on it.

oh well yeah that's why. It only works with IBM stuff. you probably did the no-1802 hack which also disables the light (apparently)

Isn't the atheros (I'm assuming that's what dod1450 meant rather than 'atheno') card "IBM"? I thought there were only two choices: IBM or Intel, and that both Atheros and Philips (the two brands I'm aware of) were marketed as "IBM"?
None of that, however, helps you solve your light problem
I have one of each (IBM and Intel) and did have problems with the led with the Intel 2200BG (i.e., it wouldn't come on despite maintaining a wireless connection). I posted here about it, never got a response (because maybe there's no known cure!), but one day it just started working . . . All I can say is, say your prayers, hold your tongue just right, and maybe the wireless led gods (if there be such a thing) will smile on you. Of course, until then you can use the connection icon in the system tray (lower right hand corner of XP taskbar) to tell if you're connected or not.

well if it never worked with the IBM card that was installed then i'm guessing someone before you might have done the no-1802. I would run it again and undo it and see if it works then.

Yeah, I found it strange the the OP switched out an "IBM" wireless card for an "Atheros" one . . . Seems kind of redundant. Unless he went from an a/b/g I to an a/b/g II or an a/b/g/n?

It looks like the "no-1802" was invoked.
The card was a NL-535AMP Plus Aries2(f)
I found an another card that supports 801.11 a/b/g and before I had installed this card. I ran 1802.com then installed the card.
This card is working with the wireless led enable.
I did find this link that has an bootable ISO file for cd-rom.

Thank you for pointing me to 1802. I have not see this before.
