I have a T41 2379DKU. I misposted when I wrote DXU previously.

I don't have any pictures at this time to check the FRU for the inverter, but it's the stock inverter that would have come with a 2379DKU. The video card is a 32mb Radeon 7500 and the original resolution is XGA.

You can see the FRU for the UXGA cable (91P6858) in the photos I've posted.

I purchased the UXGA cable online (by searching for the FRU, after consulting one of the IBM Manuals, and determining what cable was used in the UXGA T41s), and the LCD from PianoWizard. Everything else was standard from the 2379DKU.

Let me know if you have any other questions. I'm not here all that often, but do check in when possible.

He he.. yes many Qs. Thanks to you and Pw :) Pw was probably ticked off at me by now but my pestering had him LINK me to the IBM LCD links.. something I was not aware of..

I'll try to summarize the information as best possible as I slowly decipher laptop LCD dynamics and how they work, evolve with time, models & new technology.

Did you look in the Tabook?
Did you look for cable for WXGA T41s or UXGA T41s? (Just wanted to clarify)

Now I am wondering if cross Series T4x v/s T6x Video Cables and Inverters would be compatible for the relevant SXGA+ & UXGA screens? Any thoughts?

Has the CPU to video to LCD technology changed a lot?
Are the ports / plugs / pins / cables different?

My mistake, I posted that (WXGA  ) after a long day of work, and then studying. The picture I posted is of the cable I used with my 14.1" T41 and it worked.

From consulting the HMM, the 91P6858 appears to be made for the 15" T series, which would explain why it was longer, and didn't fit neatly into the cover/lcd (and partly why it created the bulge, the other problem being the foam (as shown in the pictures)).

I'm not a Thinkpad aficionado by any means, but I wonder if there is a T41 that came stock with a UXGA. If so, then I'd try to use that cable rather than the one I used.

All that having been said, maybe I just got really lucky that it worked, and that the UXGA didn't burn out my inverter (something about which PianoWizard was concerned).

3) a 15.0" UXGA Flexview cable with part numbers 91P6836 and 91P6824; it's the same one that came with the 15.0" UXGA R50p and that I have for sale here.

4) The inverter (part numbers 91P7336 and 91P7299) for the above 15.0" UXGA screen. It's also on sale in the above thread. I found that the T42's original SXGA+ inverter also worked.

I tried using the original 14.1" SXGA+ cable, three times, and it didn't work.
pw - I have mapped out all the information possible into a master excel file from all the T4x LCD spec sheets that you pointed me to.

There is a minor discrepancy. In point 3) you have mentioned 91P6836 and 91P6824. I found the former in the R50 LCD specs but was unable to find the latter number. Where did you find "91P6824"?

The same with 91P7336 and 91P7299. I found 91P7336 in the R50 specs but was unable to find 91P7299.

Can you please shed some light on that?

I've been looking up the different cable & inverter numbers and cross referencing them between the IBM LCD Spec sheets and Pianowizards posts.

I respect his study but I find just 2 part numbers from him that I am unable to cross reference anywhere on IBM site.

PW - Can you please shed some light?

Most if not all IBM parts show two part numbers, so I listed both numbers in my "Latest mod" thread. IBM/Lenovo's web site only lists the FRU numbers.

Thanks for the insight. I was unaware.

On the other hand I have been scouting for Inspirons with the LCD screens and recently I came across one who responded with the following:

LCD: 2056 x 1538 pixels
Service Tag 1C3B111

I looked up the Service Tag on Dell Support the parts lookup does not show any LCD / Graphics like the typical laptop lookup (typically shows the LCD type XGA, etc). Am I missing something here?

Was there any LCD with the above screen res available on the Inspiron series. Seems like a QXGA.

I keep asking these people for their Dell Inspiron screen resolutions and hope that one of them responds with the UXGA screen. A lot of them are technically not savvy.. plus...

The response I got from one person was around how the screen resolution went to the QXGA numbers but then the MOUSE had to be moved around to see the entire screen. I've seen that happen in some laptops and dont like how it FOOLs the whole screen resolution question.

How could I verify if one of the ebayers genuinely has a UXGA screen?

How could I have them FIND OUT for SURE and tell me that they do?

What should I ask them to do?

I have been asking them for Service Tag information but very few actually show proper LCD values.. some dont show any LCD at all?
Some show Extended Graphics Array (i.e. XGA).. Some SXGA+ and one actually showed Ultra Wide Extended Graphics Array (i.e. UXGA) but by the time the seller responded w Tag and I looked it up the thing was over.

Any thoughts?

Could I / Should I have them run one of these applications defined here?

Especially PC Wizard 2008? That way it would reveal the actual LCD it has.

I ran it on my Inspiron 9300 and it showed up with

Manufacturer : K9922170WU
Product ID : SEC5557

Could you run PC Wizard 2008 on your machine and post a screenshot or details of how it shows the right LCD Part / Spec / Manufacturer / Model Numbers that I could use to ascertain that my Ebay selle(s) have the same on their machines?

WXGA and UXGA T41s ????

Someone please explain to me what we're talking about here...since T41s only came in 14" format....I believe that this is the part of the problem/confusion...

The materials used, apart from the LCD itself, are from 15" machines (T42/3/p and R50p) and that's where the "length" problem with fitting arises...

This is exactly what I am looking for, but the text is all in Chinese. Would there possibly be a very kind hearted Chinese/English speaking forum member out there who could translate the text that goes along with these pictures - I would be eternally grateful!
