Use adapter 02K6751 for T43?

#1 Post by Senser » Wed Oct 03, 2007 11:03 am

A friend of mine gave me adapter 02K6751 as a spare adapter for my T43. This adapter is, according to the Lenovo site, for the R40 (and others) but not for the T43.

Also output is different: 1.2a-0.5a, my original T43 adapter: 1.5a-0.9a.

The adapter works fine (tested for only a few seconds), is it safe to continue using this adapter or?

Thanks!

The amperage difference is pretty small. If the R40 adapter gets too hot to touch after some usage then disconnect it and don't use again otherwise it should be OK to use.

Do bare in mind that even the T43 default gets pretty hot when the laptop is drawing power for recharging a low battery while the laptop is powered on.

The amperage you are quoting appears to be the AC current that the adapter is drawing. You need to look at the DC or output spec. That should read 16V --- 4.5A (72 watts), which is what I believe the 02K6751 adapter should be. It is also what the T4x systems need.

Both thanks for the reply. The DC is exactly the same for both adapters (16v, 45a). I'll give it a try! :-)

Like Ray says 4.5a output is what the requirement is. The only problem that I had using the earlier 3.6a output is when I connected a USB drive with the lower output adapter. The T43p shut down. Using the 4.5a output adapter solved the problem.
