T42; External Monitor; DVI; Resolution & Color Quality e

#1 Post by pgarth » Sun Oct 14, 2007 6:56 pm

Lenovo T42 running WindowsXP Pro
Minidock via DVI to external Viewsonic 22" monitor
Presentation Director Display Config'd for Extended Screen
Thinkpad LCD resolution 1024x768; Color Highest (32bit)
External Monitor; DVI; 1680x1050 (WSXGA+); Highest 32 bit; 60Hz

Everything works great for a couple months, then:

-Press Fn, F7 (or go into Presentation Director)

The following settings you have selected cannot be applied properly. Change the setting and try again. External monitor or project, television. Resolution. Color Quality.

No error when setting changed to Normal Setting and just viewing laptop.

Not sure what changed, but requesting ideas from the group.

Thanks.

Paul

Similar problem with T42 external monitor

#3 Post by snowmoose » Tue Apr 08, 2008 11:47 pm

I have a very similar problem that I'm experiencing. I think the only thing I've done different was to connect a TV via the S-video out and after that my original VGA external monitor cannot be viewed.

A similar error was originally saying 'Refresh rate' was wrong. I've tried updating the video driver, and BIOS all to no avail.

Its now giving a similar error about Resolution, Color Quality for all modes on the external monitor.

If anyone has managed to fix this or has useful ideas I'd like to hear,

Thanks

This happens to me with a T60, SXGA+ LCD plus a SXGA DVI monitor.

I just reboot it and works again. Sometime just go back to default profile and select the dual desktop profiles again and it works.
